On September 25, 2024, we at Pickleball Corner had the special honor of spending an unforgettable evening with the dedicated leaders of the DWS holiday sports courses in Winterthur. The umbrella organization Winterthurer Sport (DWS) had invited these leaders to thank them for their valuable work and to introduce them to one of the most exciting trend sports - pickleball .
The event took place at the Deutweg ice rink in Winterthur, which was transformed into a temporary pickleball court for the month of September. Although pickleball was completely new territory for many of those present, it was clear from the first few minutes that the enthusiasm for this trendy sport quickly spread.
After a short introduction to the rules and how to play pickleball, the leaders got ready to pick up the pickleball paddles themselves. It didn't take long before the first rallies took place and you could see how quickly the participants immersed themselves in the game. From the first smile to the loud cheers after a successful point - the joy was palpable among everyone!
Pickleball thrives on fast, tactical rallies, but above all it is a sport that is fun and brings people together. That is exactly what we experienced that evening. It was impressive to see how our DWS guests - many of them with a wide range of sporting experience - quickly got used to the dynamics of pickleball and immediately recognized the potential of this sport.
