Another reason pickleball is so popular is that you need very little equipment to play. What kind of pickleball equipment do you need? Just a paddle and a ball.
Paddle
The paddle for pickleball is different from paddles for other sports.
Size
Pickleball paddles are larger than a ping pong paddle, but smaller than a tennis racket. They have the shape of a rectangle and are made of wood, composite or graphite.
Cost
The cost of paddles ranges from 10 to 250 francs or more, with wood being the cheapest option. If you're a beginner, you'll probably want to choose a paddle that you can still use as you improve. If you're on a budget and aren't sure how often you'll be playing pickleball, you may want to opt for a paddle that costs no more than 40 francs, or whatever you can afford. You can always upgrade at a later date.
Weight
Another important consideration when buying a paddle is whether you want a heavier paddle or a lighter one. A heavier paddle will give you more power for your turns, but a lighter paddle will be easier to maneuver. Unless you're dealing with an injury, you'll probably be fine with either option.
Balls
Balls used for playing pickleball are made of durable plastic and have holes in them. They are available for both outdoor and indoor use. Whether the balls need to be replaced frequently or you can use them longer depends on how often and where you play.
